About Us

Inside Europe is a cultural association founded within the International and Diplomatic Sciences degree program in Gorizia. Its mission is to promote cross-border and European dialogue by engaging local communities and institutions.
Since our foundation, we have focused on a range of themes: good governance, conflict, culture, democracy, and international relations—always highlighting the unique cross-border character of the Gorizia region.

The Association

Among other goals, we aim to enhance the opportunities offered by Next Generation EU and Nova Gorica–Gorizia European Capital of Culture 2025. After considerable effort, we are proud to be recognized among the entities contributing to one of the prestigious objectives of Italy’s National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR).
Inside Europe leads a digital project: an immersive virtual tour exploring Gorizia Castle and other iconic buildings of Borgo Castello. Through 360° mapping, the castle courtyard and the historic spaces of the former Krainer hardware store will become digital backdrops for innovative exhibitions.
The project will involve artists committed to fostering cooperation between Italy and Slovenia, promoting unity among peoples and creating a unique cultural synergy in the region. Three digital exhibitions will be created—temporary in physical form, but permanently preserved in digital format—ensuring continuous access to cultural heritage.
This technology not only enables the creation of permanent digital records but also allows for thematic exhibitions to be organized, even simultaneously, without the need for physical objects. The virtual tour and digital exhibitions represent a leap forward for accessibility and cultural engagement, positioning Gorizia as a model of innovation and participation. The key actions include the creation of the virtual tour, the development of digital backdrops for the exhibitions, and the curation of three digital exhibitions along with their respective inaugurations.
This initiative is part of Investment 2.1 “Attractiveness of Historic Villages” within the PNRR. It represents a strategic pillar in recognizing culture as a driver of local and regional development. By enhancing historic villages through an extensive program of heritage restoration and public space regeneration, the project seeks to: eliminate architectural barriers, improve urban furnishings, develop targeted cultural services for both locals and tourists, promote thematic itineraries and guided tours. The broader goal is to support and encourage local cultural, creative, tourism, commercial, agrifood, and artisanal activities, revitalizing local economies by showcasing their products and traditions. The regeneration and innovation efforts aim to revitalize the social and economic fabric, combat depopulation, and preserve the rich material and immaterial cultural heritage, traditions, and landscapes of Italy’s historic villages.
